Tache Psyche / Combat Mindset Publications?

In preparation for defending a LEO shooting incident, I am looking for a general publication regarding the phenomena (I believe it's called "tache psyche") that causes distortion of the brain's processing functions during a gunfight (or other fight for survival) that leads to loss of hearing, tunnel vision, loss of memory (e.g., how many shots were fired) and other brain functions that for some reason are "shut down" so that the person is forced to focus all attention (by some accounts in super slow motion) on the threat to their personal safety. I'd appreciate any referrals to publications by credible authors on the topic.

Much Thanks to DC for the speedy response pointing me in the right direction. I wasn't getting any search hits because I was obviously spelling it wrong; thanks again.

I think you mean tachypsychia, altered perception of time.

I found a website reviewing a book dealing with this topic:

<a href=http://members.aol.com/Braxton1/bookpreview.html>"The Psychological Dynamic of Armed Conflict"</a>

The website is for Performance Shooting, Inc. "PSI provides
modern, effective training in all fields of personal defense.
We train Civilians, Law Enforcement, and Security Guards
in the areas of Firearms, Impact Weapons, Chemical
Defense Sprays, and Use-of-Force issues."

I have no knowledge of this organization but its a lead for you.

Here is another review, of a video of Maasad Ayoob's lectures.

Mr. Ayoob of the Lethal Force Institute has extensive credential's.

Hope it helps

Mr Ayoob would also be a good person to contact on this matter. I am sure he would be able to give you some good advice, and point you in the right direction.
Good Luck.

Another noted authority is Bruce Siddle who authored the book, "Sharpening the Warrior's Edge." He recently had an article published in IALEFI's quarterly magazine, the Firearms Instructor.

Entitled, "Scientific and Test Data Validating the Isoceles and Single-Hand Point Shooting Techniques", he cites the study of Barren, Cratty, Westmoreland, Hontz, et. al and the effect of stress onthe sympathetic nervous system and application of lessons learned in developing a training program. Well worth the time reading it.
