Decades ago, when they first came out, I had my smith bed the B&C camo stock I put on my 700 BDL - yes it was necessary - at least back then. It went from minute of barn to less than minute of angle. Maybe the newer ones today aren't as bad as those first ones, IDK.

Its always a good idea to bed a stock.
those are pressure points. they apply upward pressure on your barrel. they are put on thinner barrels to reduce the vibrations of the barrel and have more uniform harmonics shot after shot. however most people say its better to free float so i would shoot it, then free float and shoot again. if it shot better before free floating then you can make your own pressure points using shims to reapply the pressure. the problem with the pressure points is when your barrel heats up the pressure changes and causes vertical stringing.
