surefire flashlight battery life

I haven't bought one of these yet, but I hear they are great. I always carry a flashlight, if you want to call a AA Maglight a flashlight. The output sucks and the batteries are always dead. Does anyone know how long the lithium batteries in the small Surefires last. Both under use and when not used for long (months) periods of time?

I have a 6Z and so far the batteries have lasted over a year. I use it only when I need to see something in the dark. I don't use it for continuous work(more then a few minutes). I don't think I've ever had it on for more then a minute continuous.

The nice thing about lithium batteries is when they die it's slow. The dimming affect takes a long time to dwindle down to nothing. An alkaline, once it starts dimming, will be spent within minutes. The lithiums also have a much greater shelf life.

Just for your info they make lithium AA batteries now.
