I would like to put on a red dot scope for a Marlin 1894 .38/.357 lever action rifle, what would hold up?

Most good quality dot scopes will work for this. You can choose between tube types of various sizes (some are humongous), heads up display types, Holo Sights, Eotechs, etc. Ya got to decide what you want to do with it. Short range quick aquisition needs a bigger dot and a bigger tube. Longer range or target work needs a smaller dot. Some folks, myself included, feel that dots are better than iron sights for us with tired eyes. You can spend as little as $60-$80 or as high as $300+. You can even get some cheaper, but they're not very good.

I have a Millet Red Dot on my Winchester 94 Trapper .357.

Are you going to mount it in the normal scope position or a "scout" position?

I have Trapper set up with an XS Scout Mount, It is my favorite gun by far.

Mounting is the biggest factor IMO.
I really like the Ashley (XS) scout mount with a LOW mounted dot like an Aimpoint (best) or a Millet (good).
Get the lowest rings possible.
I mounted a Trijicon Reflex sight on my rail, but it was so high that it just ruined the handling of the gun.
