I have just received an interarms virginian dragoon 45colt as a b-day gift from my wife's grandfather. This weapon has what appears to be a factory inscripton "don't tread on me" with a snake on the butt.
Was this inscripton standard? I could not find any reference about the inscripton in any books.
Also, the weapon appears to be in fine shape---is it as strong as a ruger as far as handloads are concerned or should it be regulated to mild factory loads?
I found good load info about the 44 dragoon but not the 45. The chamber walls may be a bit thin in the 45.
