Well since I couldn't find any Para or SA 1911s in my area, I did find an STI Spartan used for $650 and that's all I could find. I'm getting the feeling that that's a ridiculously high price for a used Spartan since I'm seeing them online for $575 or less. My father wants a 1911 for Christmas and I don't know if I should bite the bullet and overpay or hold out and wait until we can get something better or for a better price.

opinions?

why dont you just purchase the one online you saw for $575? Yes $650 is way to high for a USED spartan, but they are a great 1911 and better than the entry level Para's or SA's imo

Why not get an Armscor/Rock Island 1911 in the $400 range? My understanding is that Armscor makes most of the Spartan anyway.
