Stevens 22 rifle value?

My local gun shop has an Stevens "Favorite" takedown no. 17 standard rifle in 22 long rifle. It is in VG cond. The price includes original gun case and hang tags. ( Price was $6) He is asking $300. What would be a fair price? TIA

Swamprat, Flayderman' Guide To Antique American Firearms - 8th Edition lists the Stevens Model "Favorite" No. 17 (5H-065) as Very Good - $150 and Excellent $450. Hope this helps!
