I have a Sterling.
It fails to eject empties 50% of the time.
If I operate the slide by hand the live rounds feed and eject perfectly.
I have tried several types of ammo, from standard to high velocity.
The empty doesn't clear the ejection port, doesn't stove pipe, just stays lined up with chamber. Then the fresh cartridge gets tanged up with the empty.
The magazine seems fine. The gun is clean.

Rough chamber?

Any thoughts

Rodger, is there any way you can return that gun where you got it or sell it to someone you don't especially like? Honestly, problems are so common with those guns, and have so many possible causes, that trying to fix them is like herding gnats.

One possibility is a broken firing pin. The firing pin on some of their guns is also the ejector; the tip can be broken and still fire the round, but not protrude enough to do the ejection. Depending on the model, GPC (www.gunpartscorp.com may have parts. If that is not the problem, all I can say is have fun trying to figure it out. The gun is not worth having someone make parts for and many gunsmiths won't touch them with a long pole.
