Dunno if this is old hat, but browsing over at EcoLogic.com turned up this:

Briefly, a landowner mentioned to his State Farm insurance agent about shooting on his own property. He got cancelled because the great hazard to the world at large, even though the specific site was safe.

Read it, and if you believe it, change insurance companies or tell your friends...

If you have state farm, drop it. My parents had them for 15 years for homeowners. In that time they submited three claims. Two of them happened to be within 6 months of each other, and they got dropped. Our agent even went to bat for us and was calling the district office begging them to reconsider, and they wouldn't. It all turned out for the best, though...they found the same coverage $150/yr cheaper at another company.
