What do you folks suggest regarding replacement of recoil springs, extractors and other such parts in a 1911 Colt Commander? I've probably got some 5000 or more rounds....on second thought..more like 8000 or so rounds thru it.

Thanks:confused:

The recoil spring probably takes the greatest abuse, so I replace mine at 1000 round intervals. Magazine springs replaced when they get soft and reliable feeding diminishes, firing pin spring probably about every 5000 rounds, unless dry fired a lot, then it would need replacement sooner. Mainspring, only if problems surface. Hammer spring, only if problems surface. Extractor, when it no longer holds adjustments. Hope this helps and this is just my two cents.

Wilson or Wolff, whichever I can find and get a good price. I think Wolff might have a wider variety of spring weights.
