Spots in finish on GP100

I bought a blued 4" GP100 to make a project gun here a few weeks ago. I have some big plans for it and have already done the spring change, action job, and have the grips I want on order. I'll be putting the Meprolight night sights on it soon then sending it off for the major work (chamfering, target crown, etc.).

But, while cleaning the gun, I noticed a couple of things. First, there were these little red spots on the recoil plate. Turns out it was some kind of coloring that's used on Ruger's test cartridges. It came right off with a tootbrush. However, there are also some spots in the finish just behind the cylinder on the frame on the side opposite the cylinder latch. They are little, grayish rings, not much bigger than the tip of a Bic ball point pen. Regular cleaning methods don't seem to remove them. They appear to be imperfections in the finish.

Does anyone know what these are? Is it worth doing anything about if I plan to have the gun refinished in the near future anyway?
