Spare cylinder for Pietta '51 Navy Colt

There are two (2) kinds of cylinders, one which has a "straight" profile, the other has a "step" or a "shoulder" about mid-way in its length. Are these two types interchangeable?

My opinion is...

Yes, the Pietta Colt 1851 .44 cylinders and the Pietta Colt 1860 .44 cylinders are interchangeable, as are both the rebated and non-rebated .44 replacement cylinders for each. :)

But for some reason, Cabela's product page for the spare 1851 Sheriff cylinder states that it will only fit the Sheriff model.
But I'm not sure why.

Nope...I was actually wrong about that. My .44 has the rebated cylinder.

You can always tell the newbies. :confused:
