SOG P-1s

I've been looking for another inexpensive shooter to pick up and have noticed the P-1s that SOG is advertising on their website. I know these aren't P-38s issued during the war but are post-war production. Anyone familiar with them? Approximately when they were made and were they issued to the army or police or just commercial production? Thanks.

These are retired West German army guns(they are going to H-K USPs). Most that I've seen are vintage late 70's and early 80's production often with arsenal refurbishment dates. Get one with the 2 major improvements: steel reinforcement of the aluminum frame and the thicker slide. Guns are a good value, the post-war commercial P-38s (same gun except for markings) retailed for $1,000. in the early 90s.
