Smith & Wesson 342ti

I have the 342ti, and have noticed the piece around the barrel has become slightly loose. I pulled out the paperwork, and it says you can tighten it by firing it (the bullet pushes against the rifling as it exits, twisting the barrel which in turn tightens the piece around the barrel). Has anyone else had this problem, and does the fix work?

S&W's statement is correct because the threads on the "barellette" (that's what they call it) are right twist, but the rifling is left so theoretically it wants to screw itself in. It bothers me though that it got loose in the first place. My suggestion would be to call S&W (800-331-0852 ext. 2904).

Barrelette, huh? Well, your advice is well placed. I spoke with them today and they suggest a few shots ought to do it. I'll have to make a trip to the range when I get a free minute and find out. I'll keep you posted.
