SKS: Identification Question ??

A friend of mine just bought a used SKS and needs help identifying this model. It has a 16" barrel, fixed magazine, made by Norinco. Looks pretty much like the rest, to me, except for the 16" barrel. Not into these things so am not much help and need Y'all's imput. I'm sure it's no big deal but he thinks he has something and he is a friend. Thanks again !!!

Sounds like a paratrooper model. It is a standard sks chopped down to 16" for the US market and not actually used by the chinese military. They are worth a bit more then the standard models but I am not sure by how much. I would guess around 250 to 300 dollars depending on the condition.I used to have one but did not like it as much as the 20" barrel and sold it. Now if it is a model M that was converted to accept AK47 mags he would really have something.

No sir!! It has a 10-round fixed magazine. It has a bayonet lug but the bayonet is missing or has been removed.
