Did you just win an auction on a FireStar? Don't fret if some folks trash talk the FireStar, they're robust and reliable defense tools. They did well in the US market a few years ago with the late Finn Aagard giving it the thumbs up.

A good used Kahr K9, Star as mentioned already, RAP 401 or Astra 75 in 9mm. All are very good guns. The Kahr has the best support as they are still around..but century arms sells and supports the RAP's as far as I know. Ive handled and finally got to shoot one of these little gems. Very nicely made...heres a link to an article on the 40 cal version....for reference.

Look for a used SIG 225--nicest single stack 9mm in my opinion.

As mentioned, the Astra A-75 is a pretty good platform. On the compact side. A little rough on the finish but they lock up tight, at least mine do. They are, however, a bit heavy for their size being all steel.
