Sig P6 Barrel Refinishing

The barrel that came on my P6 was well worn in some areas and was missing the bluing. For the sake of protecting the barrel and for a minor aesthetic improvement I decided to polish and re-blue the barrel.

These are the materials you need:

This is my barrel as it looked before I started:

This is the barrel once I stripped off the original bluing:

This is the barrel with the chamber area polished and the barrel itself cold blued:
*Note that at this point the barrel is completely dry and un-oiled.

At this point you will need to use a gun wipe to get a protective layer of oil on the metal. This will prevent rusting and keep the polished parts looking bright and shiny.

This shows what the cold blued barrel looks like once re-oiled and installed:
*Note that the blued barrel looks much better once oiled.

Nice job sir. I probably should do the same thing to mine as it's in need of some TLC. Shoots great though...

There are actually two roll pins there, one inside the other. They hold the breach block in the slide. The newer, solid slides dont use them.
