Sig 220 or 227?

Aside from the difference in magazine capacity, is there any reason to choose one over the other? I have shot the 220 but not the 227. Is there any difference? Any problems with the 227?

The P227 has the same basic dimensions as the P226. The P220 is a bit slimmer all around than the P226, and thus the P227.

Initially, the P227 high capacity magazines were being plagued by problems, but I believe that has been sorted out.

Overall, it's a questions of how much of a brick you want to buy: a slimmer brick, or a (slightly) fatter brick.

I used to own a Model 220 and, even with the oft-criticized internal extractor, found it to be a very reliable and accurate pistol. A couple of years later at my lgs, I handled the new at the time Model 227 and much preferred the "E2" grip (same as the one on my Model 226) over my Model 220; so much so that I sold it and bought the Model 227. The extra couple of rounds is just icing on the cake. The Model 227 has proven to be just as reliable and accurate as my old Model 220.

Choosing between the two, I think, should be predicated on which one feels and handles the best in an individual's hand and not so much based on ammunition capacity. I have slightly larger than average sized hands and I found the Model 227 to be a "perfect" fit. For me.

That extra capacity in the 227 is very appealing... If that doesn't matter to you then just pick the one you can find the best deal on and like the feel of. They're both going to be fantastic guns.
