If you mean having A bolt installed in the bolt carrier it started with across the course shooters who used the AR15 in the match rifle class it is easier to release the bolt with out breaking postion after the reload in the rapid fire stages. I dont think there are any real problems, but you have to drill and tap A carrier and cut A slot in the reciever to allow the bolt handle enough travel.
