shoulder holster bigguy

Okay, so i got my Smith Model 29, and at first I said it would be a range gun only, but now i want to carry it. Its a 6.5" version, so im thinking shoulder rig, the problem is, I am over 6 feet tall so height and area under my arm should not be an issue. But i do have a 50 inch chest and all the sites ive seen for a good vertical rig max out around 48". I've been this big since i was 17 so i dont think im going to just drop some lbs and make it work. Does anyone know a decent and affordable rig that will fit that i can look at online before i purchase it. By affordable i mean under 200 dollars, nothing custom or made of bald eagle and lined with panda fur. I would really appreciate the help of someone who is my size and owns one or tried one on, rather than Skinny McLanky telling me "this one should fit"

Check one of these guys out. Should find something.

There are belt holsters that work well with the 6.5" M29, too. I actually have a Mernickle PS6-DA for mine and find it carries pretty comfortably even when seated. The only downside is that it requires a slightly longer cover garment. I find an untucked Hawaiian shirt works fairly well for me as long as I'm careful about reaching for things.

Long ago, in the shop I worked in, we provided some firearms and holsters to a movie that John Candy was in. He had to wear a shoulder holster for a 6" revolver. I forget what make it was, but I tried it on when it came back. Candy was much bigger than I'll ever be. The holster part hung below my waist, as I recall. You won't have any trouble finding one to fit you. They're adjustable.

In the past I've used the old Bianchi X2100 for concealment of a 6" Model 29. It worked pretty good. I don't think they make that one anymore, but the X15 is the unlined version of that holster.

I've had good luck with Galco shoulder rigs.

I have too. In fact I use two of them for SIGs. But I don't think they make a shoulder rig for the long barrel, K frames. At least, I didn't see one on their website.

Galco makes an oversized harness that works with their rigs. The MCH handles chests up to 52" and the MCHX goes up to 64". Both are available in Tan or Black.

We've still got a few of the out-of-production Explorer vertical holster components and they'll take an N-Frame up to 6 1/2".
