Should I slug my 45 before buying a mold?

Hey Guys, I'm absorbing all the info I can from the net on casting and reloading for my Pietta 1873. Should I slug the bore before ordering a mold? Or do you guys just use a .454 mold and sizer? I'm mainly going to load black powder or substitute rounds for it. I may go smokeless with the same boolits I cast myself some too. Please feel free to share any info that I may need to know. This will be the first Centerfire I cast for. My casting experience had been for front stuffers and cap and ball revolvers. Also I use 1:8 beezwax and mutton tallow for my black powder lube. Can I also use that to lube the boolits for the 45 Colt BP rounds? Or something stiffer like tallow, parrafin, beeswax? Any and all help is appreciated and I thank ya'll for your time.

It should be fine at.452", but to be sure it only takes a few minutes of this effort to avoid a lot of aggravation. Then you will know for sure which molds and sizer to pick up.
