Shipping Gun. FFL Required?

I have a friend in Wyoming that wants to ship me a rifle here in Georgia.

Can he send me the gun directly, or must it be received by a dealer here in Georgia?

Your friend may only send a firearm out of state to a FFL.

If you are a CR FFL, it must be a CR firearm.

You should make arrangements with a local dealer to send a signed copy of his FFL to the sender in Wyoming. With that in hand, your friend can ship the gun to the Georgia dealer who can then deliver it to you.

Unless you are on very good terms with the dealer, there will be a charge for the service, and you should get the amount and other details clear at the beginning. The fee is usually $20 to $50, and is reasonable for the time involved.

Never "blindside" a dealer with an unexpected shipment; he MUST have a legal source for every gun in his place of business.
