Shell stops on 870

I recently acquired an 870 Wingmaster. The shell stops are no longer attached....that is to say, when the trigger group is dropped for cleaning, the stops fall out of the receiver.

This is less than desirable. I have read several references to having the stops re-staked.
What, precisely, does this entail? Would it be possible to do so myself, without the use of a large machine shop, or should I take this to my friendly neighborhood smith?
