been working on the new girl
i electrostripped (mad scientist stuff) the nickel plate and copper flash off the bits and pieces (everything except the frame, slide and mag release)
and gave them a good dehorn & polish then just did a quick blue on them to hold over till i get my hot bluing setup running
and fitted a new Wilson Combat sear and hammer to give a clean 3lb 14oz trigger
and put a new set of Dymondwood grips on her ( i really like the looks of those)
in a couple weeks she will be getting a EGW angle bore bushing and special monogrammed spring plug
and then ill finish polish all the parts including the slide and give them a nice fresh hot bluing

Not sure what kind of frame to slide fit you currently have or are expecting when you are done. Since the nickel plating process deposits metal to what it is applied and blueing does not, you will have a looser fit between slide and frame after the nickel is removed from both. Will it make any difference to the fit of slide to frame? That is for you to decide.

Don't get over the top with it. You can put everything but fender skirts and extra clearance lights on one of those, but simple works best.

i thought i was going to do a pictorial on the EGW angle bore bushing install
but it was way to much to photo!
actually the bushing came pretty close to fitting right out of the package (give them the numbers and they bore it)
i had to give it a bit of fitting on the OD and i polished up the ID to make it feel smoother on the barrel.
i can take it apart with out a bushing wrench (which i refuse to have to use)
but it is a very tight fit :D both ID and OD
but the part i had trouble with is the centerline of the slide bushing bore and the recoil spring plug bore were a bit to close together. whether its my slide (most likely) or the tolerances really stacked against me. i had to relieve the retaining notch in the bushing to get it to allow the plug face recess to fit.
but its fine now.
one thing i hadn't thought about was the fact that i have to field strip this thing like a FLGR now as the bushing wont index over the spring plug because of the retaining notch.
cant get to the range this week as its booked up with LEO training 12 hours/day all week. so next week to see if the groups tightened up any,i cant imagine they wont.
so here is what it looks like, yeah i know im weird, but i like it
