Serial Number on Beretta

Does anyone know what the three letters in the front of the serial number signify on a Beretta m21A? On this pistol they are BCS XXXXX U.

Not a damn thing, far as I know.

Like some other manufactureres, Beretta has a date coding system in their serial number prefixes. Check the Beretta forum for info on it.

I'm pretty sure the "S" was added when Beretta added the thumb safety .
