Sequential serial #s, but different calibers?

I'm helping my uncle sell some of his gun collection. He has two Springfield A3-A1s. The barrels have sequential serial numbers, but one is a 22-250 and the other is a .270. I've never encountered this before. Is this significant? Should I try to sell these together? I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Do you mean 1903-A3s? If so, those barrels were probably placed on the receivers by a gunsmith that used his own serial number system.
