Self-defense reading?

Do you have one book that you think everyone should read from the point of view of self-defense?

I'd suggest "The Gift of Fear"by Gavin de Becker. What it lacks in specific techniques it makes up for with insight on mindset.

Self-defense reading?

The first thing that popped into my mind was Battlefield Earth. Hardcover edition. Besides being mind-numbingly BAD, it could be used as a handy blunt impact weapon.

A good starter-outer book, especially for gunnie newbies who happen to be female, is Armed and Female by Paxton Quigley.

And welcome to TFL, Meowhead! I like your handle (it's similar to one of the many nicknames of my household's resident felis catus). :)
