Looking at a Sears M100 lever action 30/30. I know it's a Winchester 94 right? How could I tell if it's pre-64, if indeed there were any? price is good at $225

FWIW, There are no pre-64 Winchester 94's made for Sears, stamped with Sears/J.C.Higgins/Ted Williams.

Most are immediately-post-64, having the stamped cartridge lifter/carrier ILO the pre-64 machined carrier or the post-71 cast carrier (look for the mold mark/line)

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the pre/post 64 "issues" mostly revolved around the mechanism of the bolt-action M70, right?

MPD61, are you worried about something mechanical or just "collectible value?"

If the condition is good, $225 is fine for a lever rifle that you want to use.

Just looking to verify it's a solid gun for the price. The pre-64 thing was more an FYI. I'm looking to go Hog hunting with my son. I have an 8x57 Bolt gun and thought this M100 would be good for him to use.
