Scoping a Remington 750 in .35 Whelen

I just acquired a Remingon Model 750 chambered for the .35 Whelen. I have always been interested in gettin something in that chambering and finally made the leap. I live in Louisiana and there is not much call for a really long range rifle and I like the looks of the Model 750. I will probably use the rifle on hogs mostly and the longest shot will probably be around 100 yards and primarily a lot closer.
Finally to get around to my question for the forum, what scope would you put on this rifle if it were yours and you hade the above mentioned game and territory to hunt. Some of our hogs exceed 400 lbs. but again mostly smaller.
I would like to restrict the total cost of optics to no more than $300.00.
I would appreciate your considered thoughts.

Bought Sightron SII's for the last couple rifles I've bought.

Very clear, excellent in low light, adjustments are spot on, everything is solid and tight.

Gonna stick with them until they give me a reason to switch.

Made in Japan.

Something compact and light weight would be appropriate . Shots inside don't require a 3 to 9 for anything . Something 1 to 4 or 1 3/4 to 5 would be the ticket for me ! IMHO

Based on your needs I would go with a lower power variable such as this Leupold. I really don't see the need for more power at the ranges you described, I would rather have a wider field of view. I might also consider a low fixed power scope, like 2.5x or so or a red dot holosight.
