I shoot smokeless for cowboy action, but today a broken cylinder stop spring put my Colt out of action.
For the first time I had my 1860 and 1858 with me, so I finished the last 2 stages with my cap and ball pistols. That winter practice with them helped me not miss!
I have loaded bp for shotgun and rifle, maybe I will come completely over to the dark side!

I still shoot smokeless, but the call of the front loaders definitely won me over years ago.
I burn waaaay more "smoky" than "non-smoky." ;):D

Wire. You do realize of course you could have swapped out the spring from the Colt C&B into the cartridge gun.:D

The purist in me would stick with flat springs, but if wanting to shoot fast, well then, wire.

So obvious Hawg I woulda never thought of that, well, I didn't think of that!

Thought so Hawg, but didn't think I wanted to take 2 guns apart between SASS stages.
Think I will get at least 1 of each, sure it wouldn't be a bad thing to take a spare to shoots for me or to lend.
