Savage-Stevens model 300 22 LR-Question

Hi guys my local dealer has a Savage-Stevens 22 LR New with the grey synthetic stock Bolt action 10 round mag, I think its 10.He is holding for me and will pick it up next week.Its not in stone yet but he said I can have it 169.00 OTD. I have heard of savage way back but I can't recall good or bad about Savage. I have checked it out and it seems nice and the quality appears good but being more of a hand gun guy I am not to up to par on rifles.Any opinions, thoughts or recommendations are greatly appreciated thanks in Advance.Djohn

I just saw one at Dicks sporting goods for $120, there was a comparable 22 mag for $179 as well. I understand if you have loyalty to your local dealer though, but the mark up seems high.

Thanks for the quick reply and yes he is a little guy thats helpfull and friendly.I am usually loyal unless he is off by 50 bucks then I have to look to my wallet.Thanks for the info Will have to check it out.
