Savage rimfire rifles

Are Savage rimfire rifle barrels set up like the centerfires? What i'm really trying to ask is, I am picking up an MK2 in 17 Mach2, can I put a 22lr barrel on it?

My 10FP has a nut holding the barrel to the action, my MKIIs dont. I dont know how there attached, but its not like the centerfires. My heavy MKII looks pressed into the reciever, and my standard barrel looks threaded.
