Savage Model 12FV cracked bolt hande

Have any other Savage owners seen this condition? The rifle only has about 80 rounds thru it. Savage Arms is replacing the bolt free of charge.

that's kind of scarry. Fortunatly it shouldn't be a safety issue. What model/caliber was it? I have a target 112 in 30-06, very satisfied with it.

edit:
I see it's a 12fv, disregard my stupid model question. Caliber?

Well, since savage doesn't use a one piece bolt handle and shaft (like a Mauser) it likely isn't a SAFETY issue... but is a pain in the keister...

I've been shooting a Savage 100E in 30-06 since 1985... bought it used, and have fired thousands upon thousands of rounds through it... and never a hickup... no cracks like that!

My bet is on a 1 time problem... (not a "stress under fire" area of the gun!) Savage will make it right with you, and I'll wager that it won't happen again...

Agreed, not a safety problem.

Most likely a casting flaw, I'd guess.

(For those of you who are about to say "Its a forged part" all forgings come out as a casting to start with.)
