Hey guys! I'm back from Rimfirecentral, for now. So I ran across a Savage 842(marked Sears something or other) .30-30 today in a shop and I really like it. I'm going to see if he'll work a trade on it, but I wanted to see what the consensus is on these rifles and what a decent price would be with a cracked stock. The stock isn't busted yet, but the crack goes all the way through right above the trigger guard, about 2.5-3" long on both sides. I have always liked these rifles but never really had the opportunity to buy one. I think it would make a nice hog/deer rifle this season and it should be pretty accurate with some hand loads. The .30-30 lever action loads are kinda lacking, in my opinion.
