357 Magnum = 35000 PSI

357 Maximum = 48000 PSI

357 SIG = 45000 PSI

357 Herret = 35000 PSI

357 Auto Magnum = 37000 PSI

It depends on who you ask, and what year you're talking about.

Originally(1935ish) it was around 47,000.

It is now officially at 35,000.

If you have a new ultra-scandi-ti lightweight gun, be VERY careful reloading for it. If you have an old manual with the original pressure limit, you could blow up your gun, and maybe hurt yourself very badly.

The original limits can be taken by smith N-frames, most rugers, contenders and similar guns.

Don't ever shoot the hot stuff in an airweight, taurus titanium, or similar gun.

Thanks, thats what I wanted to see. I have been using SPEER #10- 16.8 gr of 296 under a 158 gr bullet for years went out and bought the SPEER # 13 all of a sudden my loads are 2 grs over max. Im using these loads in RUGER BH,GP-100, S+W 586 DCM,COLT PYTHON.Has anyone shot any of the detuned rounds?

Yes, and they work fine.

In fact, I would reccomend stepping it down a little in the python.

The rugers should be able to go more if you want. But, if you do, be EXTREMELY careful, and don't do it without a chrono.
