Sako vs. Steyr Bolt Action HP Rifles

Ive been browsing around the gunshops looking at these two weapons.
I'll admit, I'm not really into rifles; as many of you know, I'm more of
a handgun addict. Any thoughts and opinions on these two very fine
weapons would be appreciated. Should I look further, or just stick to
a nice, NIB Remington 700 BDL? I should mention that the caliber of
choice would be the .25-06 Remington.

The Steyr Mannlicher - is that what you're looking at? - is a rear locking, detachable mag bolt action. They are dang accurate, in fact, they bored me because my groups were appreciably less than 1" at 100 yds with a full stocked hunting weight carbine in .243. There are some new Steyrs that may have a different action. The Steyr Scout has a front locking multi lug bolt and it is pretty accurate but with a 2X scope you don't get the lazer guided accuracy of my old .243.

The SAKO I'm familiar with is a Mauser 98 type. They are also very nice although not quite up to a Steyr Mannlicher in looks or price. Either of the guns you mention would be nice as would a Rem 700 25/06. Let us know what you decide ole buddy!

I think the gun I was looking at was a stainless Steyr Scout, on the
composite stock? The Sako was also of the same construction, and
about the same in price. However, neither was more beautiful than
the wood on the Remington 700 BDL.

I'm probably going to delay this purchase for a while? I'm not quite
up too par with the funds just yet. I'll let you know what I decide.

I have a Steyr Mannlicher; I presume we are talking about the same company?

Mine's in .270 WIN; it's superbly accurate.

I hear great things about Sakos, yet have no personal experience.
