S&W model 47??

I just saw a listing on gunbroker for a S&W model 47 9mm revolver. At first I thought it was a 547 posted erroneously, however on looking at the pictures this gun is clearly marked "Mod-47" under the yoke. It's a blued round butt with 3" bbl. and looks identical to a model 547.

Is anyone familiar with a model 47? Was it a precursor to the 547? Could this be a 547 with an incorrect model stamp?

I have no intention of bidding on it, but my curiosity is peaked.

IIRC, the 47 was S&W's answer to a new Service Pistol in 9MM. It was SA, Steel Framed, & had a military style dust cover. Once rejected, some were made into Steel Framed 39's & some of the frames became the basis for the Model 52.
