S&W information

A friend has found an old S&W in the attic. It appears to be a .32 hand ejector. Nickel frame(which is mostly gone),Otherwise no model #. Has original hard robber stocks, and is serial numbered5A636. It has a blued trigger guard. 5 shot.
Any info would be a help!
Also, would S&W be able to restore?
Thanks in advance,
Blair:)

I'm a little confused by your description. Is this gun a "hand-ejector" (solid frame, cylinder swings out to the side) or a "top-break" (cylinder and barrel hinge down)? The reason I ask is that the trigger guard is part of the frame on a hand ejector and is a seperate piece on the top breaks. The trigger guards on nickled top breaks were normally blued.
Also, recheck the serial number as older S&W's did not have letters in them.

I'm going to guess that the serial number is probably 54xxx not 5Axxx and what you have is a 32 Double Action Fourth Model made circ 1883-1909.
I don't believe S&W will work on anything this old, but you can ask.
