Didn't really know about this until I saw an ad in American Handgunner. Apparently, high velocity ammo might cause the slide to lock open during shooting.
After checking my serial #, I confirmed that my pistol was part of this recall. The whole thing took about 10 days....I called S&W, they confirmed the serial number and then sent me a shipping label via email. I packaged the pistol (although I could have used a FedEx box) and dropped it at FedEx. It was shipped unloaded, of course, and with no magazine.
I got the pistol back via FedEx about a week later....an adult had to be hope to sign for the package. Everything looked just as I had sent it; maybe the safety requires a little more effort. Was kind of hoping S&W might include an extra magazine for all the bother but that didn't happen.
All in all, a fairly painless and professional experience.
