A off-duty St. Louis police officer was shot and killed when a revolver was used in a game of Russian roulette in the apartment of another officer.

Army veteran Katlyn Alix, age 24, who had 2 years with the St. Louis police was shot in the chest and died as a result of playing with guns with two other on duty police officer. Alix and another officer, Nathaniel Hendren, were playing with their semis when Hendren brought out a revolver. Hendren emptied the gun, placed one round back into the cylinder and spun the cylinder. He pointed the gun at the floor and pulled the trigger.

Alix then took the revolver and pointed it at police officer Nathiel Hendren, age 29, she pulled the trigger and the gun did not fire. Hendren then took the gun back from her, pointed it at Alix and pulled the trigger. The revolver fired and she was hit.

Hendren has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The other officer present warned them not to play with their guns.

The two carried Alix to the hospital where she died.

The relevance of this thread has to do with gun safety. Even experienced folks screw up sometimes tragically.

Herndon has been charged with manslaughter. Investigations are on going.

Three officers were present. Two on duty and one off duty. That's not unusual in and of itself.
