A friend of mine is looking at a Russian AK-47 (SAR-1, right?)

Anyway, he's been offered the gun for $350 NIB.

Good? Bad? More info?

Thanks!

again.. fair deal, not a steal.

A couple months ago AIM was selling 'em (to FFLs) for just shy of $300, I think, but there were transfer fees as well on top of that. And prices have risen a little since, I think.

If I were in the market for a cheap AK, I'd offer $325 or so, and see if the seller bites. If not, $350 ain't bad.

Actually, a SAR1 model is the Romanian AK in 7.62X39 caliber. If you want Russian, then a Saiga can be had. Some are converted over to almost look like AKs with pistol grips, different buttstocks, but they left off the upper handguard and lower handguard is the same as the ones that came into the country with rifle type features.
$350 is about average now for the SAR1s.
