Ruger P90, this doesn't look right.

I noticed this the other day. I thought I would run it past the pooled ignorance collective wisdom of the Internet gunforum world before I called Ruger on it.

There appears to be a chip out of the steel, right next to the breech face, in my P90 slide. I'm not sure what to make of it, and if it's a serious problem or not. Indicative of a problem with the casting?

Yes that is normal, my P345 has one. That seems to be put in place for the round to possibly have a little extra room or something.

I was thinking this as well, do not have the model you speak of, but the "chip" looks much too finished and clean to be any kind of damage. The shape and edges look machined, that is.

Yes, my P90 also has that area removed.

I've owned this gun since 2000, and never noticed this until now.
