Hi all,

Any of you have experience w/ Ruger 77 mkIIs? It seems the only scope mount you can use is the ruger mount. Is this true? If so, are the Ruger mounts any good?

Also what is a good price for one in 7mm Mag?

Thanks for input?

orsogato,

The Ruger rifle comes with integral dovetail mounts machined into the receiver. It doesn't actually have a "mount" since it's really part of the receiver already. The rings supplied with the rifle are some of the best there are. I've been using Ruger rifles almost exclusively for over twenty years and have never seen a bad one. Most are VERY accurate and ALL are well designed with numerous features found on only the best rifles.

Not sure about current prices - probably around $450 or so.

Since the Ruger scope mounts are cast and machined before heat treat and all actions warp to some degree during heat treat it is very important that the scope lower rings should be installed and lapped in to assure that they are in perfect alignment before the scope is installed. The above procedure is equally important on all rifle as scopes being sprung by clamping them into misaligned mounts contribute to a large amount of the common scope problems
