Ruger Alaskan stainless laminate, 23 inch barrel 375 Ruger

I have one of these that I got directly from Ruger (long story).
My dad wants one and we cannot find one anywhere, local dealers and distributors all say "never seen one".
I know mine cant be the only one, does anyone have an idea how many were made? It is discontinued on their website and I'm wondering if it is worth the effort to keep looking or if it is just a wild goose chase.

The best bet would be to keep checking Gunbroker and hope. Someone may get rid of one on there.

Ya, I can find the 20 inch Hogue stocked one all day long, but the one I have is starting to look like a unicorn.

Over the years Ruger has made a lot of small limited runs of guns for distributors. The chances of finding another just like yours is slim. It wouldn't be hard to buy something very similar http://ruger.com/products/m77HawkeyeAfrican/models.html and restock it in a laminated stock

Or buy this http://ruger.com/products/m77HawkeyeSporter/models.html and cut the barrel to 23" and add iron sights.

Neither would be the exact gun, but might be as close as you're likely to get.

My dad already has a 375 H&H, 416 Rigby, and a Double in 450 Nitro, so the main issue is that he wants this particular model.

OOPS - I just reread your post. The gun I saw last month had the 20" barrel and the black rubber stock (not the laminate one).

Or you could re-stock with a Boyds laminated like I did.
