rimfire auto's

recently purchased some small bores for the grandsons.

1) model 30 j.c. higgins/purported to be made by hi-standard?

1)model 187S savage/springfield

i paid $100 ea .

i have shot the model 30 and it has proved to be a tack driver.

did i get burnt?

can anyone give me the background on these?

Don't worry about the blue-book value. If you thought they were a fair value, and I'm sure the grandsons were happy to get them, then it's money well spent. Good on you, Grandpa! :D

I guess I can't assume to know anyone else's financial status, but for me it would be hard to get burnt on any $100 gun. It's supposed to be fun, not necessarily cost effective. $100 is dinner out with the wife, which turns into poop in less than a day. Plus, if you don't like your firearms you can sell them for darn near what you paid. I bought one of the Mosins for $80 at Fleet Farm cuz I figured I couldn't go wrong. I've had more fun shooting that thing than I ever imagined I would. The only ones that get under my skin once in a while are the four-figure safe queens. Sometimes I wonder why I have them.
