Got to Reade Range a chilly 30 degrees at 8am( ok, so i was early at 7:30).
Got signed in.
They decided to do electronic scoring, and took a little time to set up. Of course i was first string.
Got set up. Was shooting a fairly stock Stevens 200 chambered in 7mm-08AI, with a bi-pod. Hence F Open.

First string 173
Second string 173- 1X
Third string 173-2X

Nothing if not consistant.. Lol

Met some great people, had a great time!!

Thanks to all that participated!

agreed

I shot F-T/R for about 4 yrs, 3-4 matches a year. Your first 600 yd score exceeds mine by 30 pts or more, and my second day, I was dead last, in the teens. ( I had some ammo issues, on top of my inexperience) .

You did great.

When the guy scoring me on 2nd string said " shot 5 X" i had to turn around and tell him his equipment was mal functioning.. Lol

Dead calm 1st string. Wind picked up for 2nd string. Was chasing flags instead of the mirage.
3rd string wind started changing directions.

Alan, who organized it said i should have shot the 1000 yard today, Sunday.
Would have had to load 86 rounds overnight.

I passed.. Lol

double check

I just looked at my log book. My first matches were 15 shot strings, so maybe I didn't do THAT bad, but I was not in the 170's with 20 rd strings on my first match. So....good for you again.

I got a hoot out of F-T/R. I'd never shot at anything that far.....600 yds. I finally made a couple of 1000 yd shoots as well, and that seemed even worse. But, you apply your comeups, hold and squeeze, and darn if the target doesn't go down and up and there's a marker....you hit the thing.

I'm glad I did it, but I was never a competitor. The big thing was cost, day off work, 150 rds ammo, a room, meals away from home, it was an expensive weekend. Now components have doubled, I just got out. Pretty decent F-T/R rifle in the safe that's not been shot in 3 years.
