Using surplus WC 852 and pulled and cleaned 173 grain .308 match bullets from Jeff Barlett....

Using Rem 700 varmint rifle in .308 Win...

47 grains of WC852 put five shots into .516" (center to center) at 100 yards.

Federal cases, sorted by weight and match prepped, WW LR primers.

Loaded with standard Lee dies on a Dillon machine. Weighed charges.

Velocity is only 2376, so I may want to use a slightly faster powder for more velocity, but I've made a note of this load.

This load seems to be at the top end of the pressure range, so be careful. When I get more strain gages, I'll post the pressure readings.

Very Nice, Archie - - -

Does Jeff Barlett have a web site? I'd be interested in picking up some of the Mil Match 173s--Sierra Match Kings are too expensive for me to shoot a lot of 'em, and I DO like to shoot.

I've seen the Mil Surp powder for sale ata Dallas Market Hall Gun Show, but have never tried it out. May have to give it a look. I'd prefer to get just a TOUCH more velocity, however, so I'll probably stick with IMR 4895 until we hear more from you on the 852.

Nice report, sir.

Best,
Johnny
