Replacing Mainspring on Ruger P 97

Has anyone done this? I'm interested in replacing the stock 22 lb. one with a 19 or 20 pound Wolff one to lighten the double action pull somewhat. The pin in the hilt, although different in construction, looks similar to a 1911 setup. As long as I use a punch with a cupped end so as not to damage the pin, and I make sure the hammer is not cocked, do I just drive this pin out? I just want to be sure before I break something. Thanks.

Yes, with the hammer down to relieve tension on the spring, you simply insert a punch to slide out the retention pin. The hammer spring seat, hammer spring seat detent, and hammer strut should come right out and with it, the hammer spring.

P90 Mainspring replacement

I've been thinking of replacing the 22 lb. mainspring in my P90 with a 19 lb. Wolff replacement spring also. Will it significantly lessen the trigger pull in DA mode? Any downside? Thanks.
