Hello all. My grandpa and I were discussing the 760 series the other night because he collects them. I really like the carbine version but I also like the 270. So I told my grandpa that if he got a 270 carbine I'd use it for hunting this year. Neither one of us know if they made one. I looked it up online and it said they did but I don't see any for sale online anywhere. So does anybody know if they made one? Thanks

Yep, the 760 was also made in .35 Whelen. I bet in a carbine it would have made one heck of a woods gun with an apenditure sight.
And just about every carbine version I've seen is in 30-06 (why I don't know!)

I've never seen one. But where a 30-06 is chambered so follows the 270 usually. Than again since Remington has what they think is comparable (280) It's quite possible Rem might not have made the 270 cartridge available. Lots of competition back in those days between Rem & Win.

As I recall when I bought my 742 carbine back in 68 or 69 the only cartridge selection offered was a 30-06 and 308 and I do believe the same was true for the 760 carbine. But in the Rifle version many different calibers were available.

I found a website titled "Gundata" which states that the .270 WAS offered carbine form from 1960-1963. So too the .270, which went a year longer till 1964.
That aligns with my memory of the rifles from the mid 70's as a kid. I was a fan of the 760 pump, and especially wanted a carbine. I suppose, in those pre internet days of the early 70's, I looked at Remington catalogs more than I watched TV. (we only had two channels!). I cannot recall the Carbine being offered in anything but .308 and .30-06. Eventually, they dropped the .308.
Gun Data says the last offering of the .308 in carbine form was 1980. I still haven't gotten a .308 carbine pump!
It wouldn't be original, but it would be a simple matter to have the barrel of a .270 pump professionally cut and recrowned, and the front sight reinstalled. But I do not believe the .270 is a good caliber for short barrel conversion, or the '06 for that matter either, but it could be done. There was a recognized family in the NE (Benoit's) that cut 760 pumps in '06 and were pretty famous as deer trackers.
