Remington 597

I have this gun in 22LR and I can detail strip it all the way down except for one part. I can't figure out how to get the retaining pin out that holds the firing pin in place. No matter how hard I push it won't budge so I'm thinking there is something else that has to be moved before this pin can be removed.
Please, only reply if you know this model or at least what I am talking about.

I have not worked on a 597 however, the pin may be surrated on one end. Look at both sides to see if you can see the surrations. It could just be a tough pin and might just need several good smacks to move. Try posting your question on the Smithy thread and ask George.
